Research Abstract |
Among inorganic materials zeolite is a promising candidate for a high performance membrane. We have reported the performance of zeolitic membranes is the most favorable one for pervaporation. Here, we report on the hydrothermal synthesis of zeolite A, Y and ZSM-5 membranes using a microwave heating and their pervaporation properties. Synthetic parameters such as the microwave radiation time, temperature, molar ratio of the starting gel, aging, and seed coating were investigated in order to optimize the pervaporation performance of the membrane. Microwave heating offers a new synthetic method of a homogeneous and pinhole-free zeolitic membrane and seems to be suitable for the mass production of zeolitic membrane module in the near future
