Research Abstract |
Novel helical aromatic polyamides, which contain axially dissymmetric units in the main chains, were investigated. Optically active one-handed helical polyamides that have acridine segments stereo specifically interacted with chiral (R)- or (S)-comphorsulfonic acid ; therefore, they can be used for optical resolution. In the case of helical polyamides that have NLO chromophore segments such as 4-amino-4'-nitroazobenzene, second harmonic generation was observed, indicating that they can be applied to nonlinear optical materials.
