Research Abstract |
This research aimed to epidemiologically analyze the data pertaining to health and social care then construct the geographic information system (GIS) based on the data from the municipalities. The objective was to support the planning and evaluation of municipal projects in the field of health and social services. (1)Collecting data related to health and social services in the municipalities of Saitama The database for each municipality was constructed with the data of demographics, medical institutions, health care projects for elderly people, and medical costs which had been extracted from the existing data. (2)Confirming the locations of public offices and health and social care facilities The locations of public offices and health and social care facilities were checked, and the address matching on the map was implemented. (3)Constructing the GIS After a number of GIS software programs were examined, "MapInfo Professional" was identified as the most appropriate one to best serve the purpose. The software integrates with the statistical analysis software program, SAS, by utilizing the linking function with DBMS. As a result, the constructed geographic information system can support the epidemiological statistical analysis as well as mapping of data and general spatial analysis. (4)Using the GIS The ways to use the GIS were provided, and its significance was presented.
