Research Abstract |
In the present study we examined the function of fractalkine in the reproductive area. Western blot analysis revealed the presence of fractalkine protein in the seminal plasma and the association between the fractalkine concentration of the seminal plasma and sperm mortality. We demonstrated the existence of fractalkine in the Fallopian tubes the localization of fractalkine in the epithelial cells of the Fallopian tubes. RT-PCR revealed the expression of fractalkine mRNA in the Fallopian tubes. We demonstrated the presence of CX3CR1 (fractalkine receptor) and the localization of CX3CR1 in the tails of the sperm. These results suggest that fractalkine in the Fallopian tube may have an important role in the sperm motion.
