Research Abstract

The science teaching materials are investigated to design the science curriculum connected to workplace contexts. The waste treatment and disposal engineering plays a vital role in the life of the community, as the health of its citizens depends on the proper treatment of waste material. The human activities, which are required to sustain our high-consumption society, leads to the mass-disposal of poisonous waste.
The waste treatment processes in the plant of Hokkaido University and in the facilities in the depths of the mountain in Hokkaido area are videotaped to construct some science educational contents. These treatment processes in those plant and facilities contain some chemical reactions which are important in science education contexts.
The future research subject is to construct a concrete lesson plan with the educational contents obtained in this research project.
