Research Abstract |
(1)For those who become blind in the middle of life, to master reading Braille is very hard, while, many of them can easily learn writing it. It is believed that, in an early stage of practicing Braille recognition by tactile sensation, to use large size Braille is more effective than to use that of standard size. Nevertheless, to prepare text with large size Braille is very difficult, since ordinary Braille printers can produce only Braille of standard size. To overcome this situation, we have developed a variable size Braille printing system, which can produce Braille of any size according to the initial set up for radius of a Braille point and spaces between points. (2)With the advancement of computer technology, giving and receiving of various information are gradually becoming easy for the blind people. However, there exist lots of difficulties for them to present a scientific document, especially when it includes mathematical expressions. LaTeX is a system used commonly to produce scientific documents. Therefore we have developed a processing system of LaTeX documents which helps the blind to write scientific text. This system is supported-by sound device. Using this system, the blind can correct LaTeX errors and confirm the prepared document easily.
