Research Abstract |
Aimes of research : a survey of current state of Elementary School "English Activities" In 2002 a survey made, in which 426 schools (of 750 ones) responded to our reguest, says that we have several problems on Elementary School "English Activities," which should be solved and/or improved. (1) Common recognition of the relationship between the aims of Integrated study and "Englesh Activities" : NOT RECOGNIZED (27%) (2) Frequency of "English Activities : (1)more than 7 times a year (72/295 : 24%) (2)once a month(31/295 : 10.5%), (3)twice permonth (23/295 : 0.8%) (3) Frequency of communication with ALTs : (1)2-4 times pen year (72/295 : 24%) (2)5-10times (52/295 : 18%) (3)more than 11times (37/295 : 13%) (4) Instruction with assessment based on critenia : NO CRITERIA (224/295 : 76%) Also, a survey says good resut : Agreat number of students have gat their positive attitudes in communication with foreign people, which made ghem. had their own confidence, that would be expected to possess "ZEST FOR LIVING (生きる力)" in their future lives.
