Research Abstract |
The absorption cross-sections of ozone in the Wulf band around 759 -768 nm have been determined using cavity ring-down spectrometry. Very slight temperature dependencies have been observed in the precise measurements at 762.07 nm and 764.47 nm : σ(762.07 nm, 298 K) _(2.86 ± 0.04))x10^<-22> cm^2 molecule^<-1>, σ(762.07 nm, 215 K) = (2.62 ± 0.04)x10^<-22>, 6(764.47 nm, 296 K) = (2.70 + 0.03)x10^<-22>, and σ(764.47 nm, 214 K) = (2.44 ± 0.03)x10^<-22>. These results at 762.07 nm are in good agreement with those reported by Burkholder et al. [1994]. The present results can be used in the analysis of data from some observatory satellites in sounding of atmospheric temperatures. Also, these data are useful to estimate cloud height and cloud coverage, will be extracted from satellite data
