| Research Abstract |
凝縮型階層的分類法はクラスター分析の中でも最も良く使われる一連の手法の総称である。凝縮型階層的分類法による分類結果は樹形図で表すことができ、直感的で分かりやすい解釈が可能であるという特徴を持っている。一方、一連の手法といいながらも、その性質は全くと言っていいほど異なり、同一のデータを分析しても、選択する手法により分類結果が大きく異なることが良くある。ここで問題となるのが手法の選択であるが、現在、この手法の選択に関して明確な基準は与えられていない。実際、すべてのデータや分析意図にふさわしい手法が存在するわけではなく、分析者の主観によって手法が選択されている場合も間々見られる。
本年度は、昨年度得られたAHCAの性質であるspace distortion, monotonicity, structureに関する結果をふまえ、関数類似性データ、非対称類似性データに対する拡張を行った。前者に関してはS.Tokushige, K.Inada and H.Yadohisa(2002)として公表し、後者については、Monotonicity of an asymmetric agglomerative hierarchical clustering algorithmとして、来年度の国際会議(IMPS-2003)で発表予定である。
