Research Abstract |
We summarized results of the research on prediction of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, which are conducted under the recommendations titled as "On the Promotion of the new National Program of Observational Study for Earthquake Prediction" and "On the Promotion of the Sixth National Program for Volcanic Eruption" by the Geodesy Council. We have compiled new results to study the trend of studies of earthquake prediction studies. We held meetings for the annual report of earthquake prediction research studies in 2002 and 2003, which more than 100 people attended. We discussed plans for the next earthquake prediction research program since 2004. We have discussed and evaluated the recent trends and results of the volcanic eruption studies. We examined also Mt. Fuji, under which low frequency earthquakes occurred recently because of its strong impact on the social activities. We investigated the seventh National Program for Prediction of Volcanic Eruption.
