Outline of Annual Research Achievements

現在、多くのアフリカ民族が国外(アフリカ大陸以外)の地に移住している。Emmanuel Akpabio氏は、彼らが自国での生活の場や環境健康の知識・経歴を移住地においていかに計画し再現しているかを研究してきた。本研究では、ケーススタディとして英国に居住するイビビオ族に焦点をあて、彼らの民族独特の土着的観念、知識、信仰、規範、態度、行動反応に着目し、個人・コミュニティーレベルでの水・公衆衛生・精神衛生と健康との関係の境界領域の文化的観念にしぼって研究した。
① イビビオ族の自国及び英国での環境健康の信仰・概念・規範・態度・知識と環境健康の行動の様々な要素の抽出し比較する。特に、過去何年も継続・または変化した概念・現実的な信仰・知識は、どのような要素で、それはなぜかということを明確化した。
② 個人やグループの環境健康の知識に特に関連した継続性や変化の様相を維持したり形作る主要なダイナミクス、駆動力、広い文化的特徴を理解する方法として、各人の社会的経歴や住民としての具体的経験、民族的宗教的所属、移住状況、制度的背景などを特徴づけた。
③ 個々の環境健康の知識、方向性、実際がいかに周知、維持または修正されるのかについての知見を得るための方法として、通信情報共有のオプションやネットワークの連絡の様々な相互のチャンネルとメカニズムを調べた。
④ 健康と健康管理の実際と再建の医学的・生態学的位置づけに関する実験結果の理論的及び実際的な意味合いについて議論した。
これらの成果は、第15回世界水会議(英国・エジンバラ、平成27年5月)において、2つの論文発表として公表された。
