Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Introduction of mesoporous structures to the sensitive materials of self-powered nanosystems can be expected to be as a new direction in the fabrication of self-powered nanodevices with superior performance and low cost. Based on the experiences in the fabrication of porous materials and the sensing applications, I put great efforts on developing novel porous materials by using new concepts.I reported the first success on the fabrication of mesoporous Au films by using a 'polymeric micelle' approach, and a highly enhanced sensing performance was realized by using the mesoporous Au film. Mesooporous Au films with tunable pore size in the range of 10 to 60 nm were firstly obtained by using the reliable soft-templating approach. When light is incident on the mesoporous Au films, the electrons oscillate collectively, a so-called plasmon, and this greatly enhances the electromagnetic field . According to Babinet's principle in optics, the inverse structure, a mesoporous film, should lead to similar local electromagnetic field enhancements. In this work we found mesospace stimulated optical effects of the mesoporous Au films, which shed new light on the tailoring the optical functionality. From Apr. 2015 to the end of my JSPS period, I have published several papers in top journals, including Nature Commnunications, The Journal of American Chemical Society, and Nano Research. All of the publications are highlighted by both peer researchers and the academic media.
