Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Bi2Sr2Co2O9は分解熔融系であり、部分熔融状態から試料を徐冷すると、融液相と固体酸化物相の界面でBi2Sr2Co2O9相が包晶反応により再結晶化する。Bi2Sr2Co2O9結晶粒は熔解温度が高いほど大きくなった。また熔解温度が高いと分解熔融で生じるSr-Co-Oの粒径も大きくなった。徐冷により融液相とSr-Co-O相が反応し、Bi2Sr2Co2O9相へと変化するが、熔融時に生じたSr-Co-O相は徐冷後も残留することが分かった。しかし、その残留量は熔解温度が低い方が少なく、また粒径は小さくなった。また部分熔融法で作製した試料の焼結密度は、熔融状態を介さない固相焼結法で作製した試料よりも低く、多孔質となった。
部分熔融法と固相焼結法で作製した試料の電気抵抗率は、熔融温度が923℃で作製した試料で一番低くなった。これは固相焼結法(910℃)で作製した試料と比べ1/3程度の値であった。どちらの試料も焼結密度は同程度であるが、923℃で焼成した試料にはSr-Co-O相も残留しており、電気抵抗率は増加しても良いと考えられる。しかし、部分熔融法で作製した試料では、Bi2Sr2Co2O9相の結晶粒径が大きくなっており、このため、電気抵抗率が低減した。熱伝導度は923℃で分解熔融した試料で電気抵抗率が低減したにもかかわらず、固相焼結試料とほぼ同じであった。このことは、分解熔融によりフォノン散乱部位が導入されたことを示しており、残留したナノスケールのSr-Co-OとBi2Sr2Co2O9の界面がその機能を発現していることを明らかにした。この結果、無次元性能指数ZTは923℃にて部分熔融法で作製した試料で最も高くなり、700℃において固相焼結試料の約4倍の0.28となった。この数値はBi2Sr2Co2O9多結晶焼結体で報告された試料のZTとして最も高い値である。
