Research Abstract

1.高機能光ファイバブラッググレーティング(FBG)デバイス
本研究課題では,FBGを用いて任意のフィルタ特性を実現する技術を確立することを目標にしている。位相マスクを介して紫外線をファイバに照射することによりグレーティングを書き込むが,このときレーザビームと位相マスクとの位置関係を変化させることにより,任意のパターンをもつFBGが実現できる。今年度は昨年度に確立した設計法に基づき,分散フリー光フィルタ,パルス波形を整形するフィルタを試作した。
2.エルビウムドープ・ビスマス系ガラスファイバ
今年度はエルビウムドープ・ビスマス系ガラスファイバの作製技術を確立し,損失補償による非線形性の増強を試みた。ファイバの構造・組成の設計に基づいてファイバを試作し,損失の補償には成功したが,これを用いて低パワー・超高速光スイッチングを実現するには至っていない。
3.円偏波維持光ファイバの非線形光学特性
ファイバの長手方向に対して十分な"ねじり"を加えた円偏波維持光フナイバの非線形光学特性を体系化した。この知見に基づき,偏波無依存のXPMスイッチ,偏波無依存の非対称FWM波長変換器,楕円偏波回転を用いた光デスクリミネータなど,新規デバイスの開発に成功した。
4.非線形光信号処理サブシステム
160Gbpsで動作可能なOTDM送信器,クロック抽出,DEMUX機能を持つOTDM受信器,全光学的波長変換器,全光学的信号再生器など,各種の光信号処理サブシステムを高非線形石英ガラスファイバおよびビスマスファイバを用いて実現した。
