Outline of Annual Research Achievements

まず、二項あるいは三項の指数型不定方程式について研究を行った。ピタゴラス数に関するJesmanowiczの予想について、寺井伸浩氏（大分大学）と共同研究を行い、寺井氏が以前に得た重要な研究成果を広く拡張することに成功した。この結果を査読付き論文として出版させることが出来た。また、連立ぺル方程式と深く関係するディオファントスの組について、藤田育嗣氏（日本大学）と共同研究を行った。ディオファントスの組とは、自然数の集合で、その任意の二要素の積に１を加えたものが完全平方数になるという性質を持つものを指す。任意のディオファントスの３組は４組へ拡張されることが知られているが、その方法が一意的であるという予想があり、これはこの分野の最大の未解決問題である。藤田氏との共同研究では、この問題において研究対象になる特別な連立ぺル方程式の基本解を完全に決定し、任意の３組の４組への拡張可能性が高々１１通りであることを示すことが出来た。
さらに、多項式と指数関数が混合する不定方程式について研究を行った。特に、Ramanujanが提起し、Nagellによって解かれたRamanujan-Nagell方程式の一つの拡張族を考察し研究結果を得た。この研究では、それまで余り注目されることがなかった、V.A.Dem'janenko（1965年）による２変数２次不定方程式の解構造に関する先行研究を積極的に利用している。本研究については、Salzburg大学で行われた国際研究集会Computational Aspects of Diophantine Equations にて口頭発表を行った。
