超弦理論から導かれる4次元有効理論についての研究

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

標準模型は極めて優れた有効理論であるものの、説明できないいくつかの現象、暗黒物質の存在、宇宙のバリオン数非対称性、自然性の問題などを持つ。
これらのうち、標準模型に簡単な暗黒物質を入れた際のヒッグスポテンシャルへの影響を考察した。 具体的には、 標準模型の弱い相互作用に関係するゲージ群SU(2)に荷電したスカラー暗黒物質とフェルミオン暗黒物質をいれた模型を扱った。これらの模型は量子効果をつうじてヒッグスポテンシャルに影響を与える。そして、昨年度研究したヒッグスインフレーションがこの拡張模型でも有効であるためには、暗黒物質の質量や量子数が制限されることが分かった。これらは将来実験で検証可能な予言である。
バリオン数生成についてもこれまで知られていたものとは異なる新しいバリオン数生成の機構を提唱した。重い粒子の崩壊ではなく、標準模型粒子の散乱によりバリオン数を生成するので、既存の理解に比べて広い範囲の模型やパラメーターで観測と整合的なバリオン数生成が可能であることが示せた。
自然性問題に関して、通常の局所的作用でなく多重局所的作用から出発して解決可能であることを議論した。多重局所的作用では理論のパラメータは単なるパラメータではなく、力学的に決定される変数となる。これを用いれば標準模型とアインシュタイン重力の問題点である宇宙項問題、gauge hierarchy問題、strong CP問題といった自然性問題に答えることが可能である。
今年度から最大エネルギーを13TeVへと増強し、稼働したLHCにおけて750GeVでの新粒子の存在が示唆された。いまだ統計的に十分ではないものの2光子へと崩壊するシグナルの存在が示唆されている。私はこの最新の実験結果にいち早く対応し、標準模型を拡張して2光子シグナルを説明しつつ重力のスケールであるプランクスケールまで有効な最小模型を構築する研究を行った。
