Outline of Annual Research Achievements

エネルギー・環境問題に加えて,わが国では後期高齢者の増加に伴う医療へのニーズがますます高まることが想定される中,計測の機能・精度・実用に対する要求はより増していく.これら要求を満たすため,これまで開発してきた気泡・液滴計測用光ファイバープローブ(以下OFP)に流速測定・分光測定・温度測定・集光の機能を選択的に付与可能な多機能型マイクロOFPを提案することを本研究の目的とする.
当該年度において,フェムト秒パルスレーザー(以下FPL)による非熱的マイクロプロセスの物理的作用について実験を行った.透明材料とみなした水,アセトン,エタノール各液体中にFPLを集光照射,集光点での非線形光学現象を高時空間分解計測(<1 [ps], <10 [μm/pixels])した.すると,FPLの照射直後(<400 [ps])にFPL集光部でフィラメント状の影(FPLの非線形光学領域,約100 [μm])が観察された.このフィラメント長さはFPLのパルスエネルギーと液体のイオン化傾向(バンドギャップ)に依存して決定される,「加工深さ」である.すなわちFPL導波路の電離度が加工精度と密接に関わっていることが証明された.
上記結果を踏まえて,FPL加工を施した新規OFP(Fs-TOP)による気液検出精度を大幅に向上させた.すなわち,OFP加工を行う雰囲気を空気中,水中とした場合のFs-TOPの性能について比較検討した結果,水中で加工した場合の方が気液検出の不確かさが空気中の場合の2倍ほど改善されることが明らかになった.これは空気の粒子密度やイオン化傾向が水よりも低く,フィラメント長が短くなることで熱溜り(プルーム)が形成,加工部の微細な焦げつきがセンシングの不確かさを生んだことによる.
以上の成果はいずれも世界初の試みであり,FPLの物理現象から実用スケールの加工法に至るまでを分野横断的に研究した.
