Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ヒト以外の霊長類において、多様な個体と関係を築き、保つ必要性は、音声コミュニケーションの能力にどのような影響を与えたのか。ニホンザルは毛づくろいなどの社会交渉を行う際に、敵意を持たないことを相手に伝える音声を用いることがある。集団内でも普段あまり関わらない相手や、ケンカの後といった緊張が高まっている状況においてこの音声を用いると、相手と円滑に社会交渉を行うことができると考えられる。1．ニホンザルは相手の属性や状態に応じて音声の用い方を調整するのか、そして、2．このような効果的な音声の用い方は、発達に伴い習得されるのかを明らかにすることが本研究の目的であった。
本年度は嵐山ニホンザル群 (京都市) を対象として前年度までに収集した行動・音声データを解析し、主に目的2に関する検討を行った。オトナは普段はあまり関わらない非血縁メスに接近する際には音声を用いることが多いが、年齢の低いメスでは相手との血縁関係によって音声を用いた割合に違いは見られなかった。つまり、効果的な音声の用い方は年齢段階が高くなるとともに、習得されていた。このような音声の用い方は、社会的な経験によって習得されるのかを検討した。その結果、オトナメスと関わる頻度が高かったワカモノメスは、その翌年に音声を用いた割合が高くなっていた。一連の結果から、ニホンザルは相手との関係に応じて音声を用いること、このような音声の用い方は、他個体と関わった経験により修正されることが示唆された。
