Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ビーム推進システムは小型衛星専用の低コスト打ち上げ手法として期待されている.過去の飛行実験では安定飛行性能に問題があり,50 g 機体が 71 m の高度で墜落してしまった.また低圧下ではプラズマのエネルギー吸収率低下と拡散速度増大により推進性能が低下し,飛行を維持出来ない事が推力測定実験から判明している.本研究では,外部磁場を印加する事によって軸方向の推進性能を改善しつつ,安定飛行に必要な横力獲得をも可能にする先進的飛行デバイスの開発を試みる.推進性能改善と安定飛行性能改善とを同時に達成可能なデバイスは存在しないため,確立出来れば画期的である.電子とイオンの運動を追跡する粒子法と電磁波伝播を解析する有限差分時間領域法を結合し,ビーム照射時の電離構造を再現する事に成功した.大気圧下では離散的電離構造が,低圧下では電子拡散が優位となる為に拡散的電離構造が形成される.外部磁場を放電領域に印加した所,プラズマ前縁の伝播速度を制御可能である事を見出すと共に,電子サイクロトロン共鳴加熱を利用する事でエネルギー吸収率を改善出来た.第二高調波電子サイクロトロン共鳴を誘起する場合,電子拡散抑制と電子衝突電離の促進により,低圧においても離散的電離構造が形成される事が明らかとなった.流体計算と結合する事でノズル内部での衝撃波伝播を再現し,推進性能を見積もった.25 GHz ビーム照射に対して 0.9 T を印加する事で電子サイクロトロン共鳴条件を満たして駆動衝撃波を強化し,低圧下でも高い推進性能を維持出来る事が分かった.さらに,電子サイクロトロン共鳴領域をノズル重心部より下方へと配置する事により,回転モーメントの発生を抑制しつつ安定飛行に必要な横力を獲得出来る事が分かった.横力と回転モーメント発生とを分離出来る手法は世界的に見て提案されていない為,非常に意義深いと言える.
