Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、野外での鳴き交わしの観察と、前年度に引き続きオサハシブトガラスの野外調査をおこなった。
野外では、東京都内の公園で観察を行い、同種類の音声による鳴き返しの頻度の観察をおこなったが、データが足りずにまとめるまでに至っていない。
オサハシブトガラスの調査は、黒島と西表島で実施した。生息環境と鳴き声の音響構造との関係を明らかにするために音声再生実験を行ったが、悪天候（強風）で実験が難航し、黒島での比較のみとなった。実験の結果、島による音声の違いは伝搬距離には影響しておらず、西表島の音声も黒島の音声も、同程度の伝搬距離となっていた。これは、島による音声の違いが生息環境以外の要因で変化した可能性を示唆する。しかし、島ごとにカラスの体サイズが大きく違うため、鳴き声の周波数の高さを考慮して、再度解析をおこなう必要がある。また、それぞれの島でしか記録されない鳴き声が存在するが、これはカラスが島内で互いの音声を学習することによって維持されているのかもしれない。これまでの３年間で記録した音声を整理し、島による音声の種類の違いをまとめて論文にする予定である。
飼育下ハシブトガラスについて、飼育ケージの屋根部分を利用して鳴き声を反響させている行動がみられたため、これの頻度を観察した。また、屋根によって音声の音圧がどの程度上昇しているかを明らかにするため、再生実験をおこなった。
