Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は三角格子・正方格子を持つ遷移金属カルコゲナイド化合物の電子状態を光電子分光などの様々な手法を用いて軌道状態と超伝導の関連を調べることが目的である。
平成27年度は三角格子を持つ遷移金属カルコゲナイドIrTe2の低温相において、表面に由来する一次元的な電子状態を発見した。IrTe2の低温相ではIr及びTeの電荷軌道整列に伴い、IrTe2面から傾いた擬二次元的な電子状態が理論的には予測されていた。低温相のバルク成分は理論的な予言と一致しており、新たに発見した1次元的な表面状態は、この擬2次元面と表面が交錯することによって形成されていると考えられる。さらに超伝導を示すIr1-xPtxTe2については世界最高分解能を有するレーザー角度分解光電子分光装置を用いてTc=3.1Kの超伝導ギャップの直接観測に成功した。超伝導ギャップは二枚のフェルミ面が近づくところで顕著な異方性を示しており、これらはIrないしTeの強いスピン・軌道相互作用に由来する特殊な超伝導状態である可能性を示唆している。
