Outline of Annual Research Achievements

第二言語のコミュニケーション能力に関わる神経基盤を明らかにするために、研究期間の３年間一連の実験を行い、学習者のそれぞれの適性がコミュニケーションに関与する脳内メカニズムを決める重要な要因であることを明らかにした。主要な結果は以下の通りである。第一に、学習者の言語産出に関与する神経基盤は、相手がいる言語コミュニケーション時のみ、社会認知や発話意図に関与する神経基盤を必要とすることが分かった。したがって、第二言語のコミュニケーション能力を高めるためには、相手を想定する発話練習が重要であることが示唆される。第二に、学習者が目標言語（本研究の場合は英語）に対して不安を感じている際には、コミュニケーション時に関与する神経基盤の一部に影響が見られた。このことは、学習者が第二言語に不安を感じていると適切なコミュニケーション活動を行うことができないという一般事例にも通じている。第三に、学習者の個人差（ワーキングメモリ、言語分析能力、語彙記憶力）が第二言語のコミュニケーションに関与する脳内メカニズムに影響する重要な要因であることが観察された。これらの結果は、第二言語のコミュニケーション能力の向上において、学習者それぞれの適性を生かしたり、情意面を考慮したりする教育方法が重要であることを示唆している。最終年度の平成2８年度3月から９月まで7ヶ月間は、バイリンガル・第2言語習得に関する神経基盤を研究している米国ペンシルベニア州立大学の心理学・言語認知研究室（Ping Li教授）に客員研究員として所属しながら、最新の研究手法を学び、これまで測定した脳データに応用しながら、最新の研究分析手法と研究情報を収集した。現在、研究成果をまとめ、学術雑誌への投稿の準備を進めている。
