Research Abstract

銅酸化物における高温超伝導の発現機構に関して残された問題、さらには他の関連物質系の物性研究を行った。我々は高温超伝導の発現機構を、磁気的相互作用による擬ギャップ形成を中心に据えた相図を作成して自然に理解している。一方、一部の銅酸化物系(La_<2-x>Sr_xCuO_4やLa_<2-x-y>2Nd_ySr_xCuO_4等のいわゆるla214系)では"ストライプ"と呼ばれる1次元的電荷秩序が正孔濃度x=p〜1/8に現れ種々の物理量に影響を与え、さらには超伝導を抑制する(いわゆる1/8異常)が、逆に動的な"ストライプ"はその空間的非一様性を通して超伝導電子対の形成を促進するのではないかとの考えが出てきた。この考えの正否を知る目的で、超伝導電子対形成に影響を及ぼすほどゆっくりした"ストライプ"ゆらぎが、La214系以外の高温超伝導体にも存在するかどうかを知らねばならない。このことに関して、YBa_2Cu_3O_y(Y123)系のほかに、低温域で静的"ストライプ"秩序を持つLa_<1.6>Nd_<0.4>Sr_xCuO_4(x=O.12)を取り上げ、その磁気励起スペクトルX"(q,w)(q,wはそれぞれ、磁気励起の波数ベクトルとエネルギー)やフォノンの中性子散乱による測定を進め、さらに電子ドープ系のNd_<2-x>Ce_xCuO_4のX"(q,w)を含めたそれらの挙動の解析を総合的に行った。その結果、Y123系では、X"(q,w)の特徴的振舞いが、"ストライプ"を考慮しないモデルでよく説明される一方、La214系には動的"ストライプ"の影響がX"(q,w)に色濃く反映される事がはっきりと示された。このことは、たとえ、CuO_2面を共通に持つ銅酸化物においても、"ストライプ"ゆらぎが常にその超伝導発現に役割を果たすとは限らないことを示し、擬ギャップ形成を中心に据えた発現機構が当を得たものであることを正当化する。また、フォノンの挙動に関しても同様の興味で研究が進んだ。
