Research Abstract

(1)静電場とレーザー電場の併用による分子の配向度の増大
本研究グループでは、レーザー技術に基づいた分子操作と配列あるいは配向した分子試料を用いた応用実験を進めている。分子の配向については、静電場とレーザー電場の併用により、既に1次元的および3次元的な分子の配向が可能であることの原理実証実験に成功した。しかし、配向した試料分子を応用実験に利用するためには、配向の度合いを増大させることが重要である。
昨年度までに、比較的高い静電場強度でも安定に動作する装置を新たに設計・開発し、装置がほぼ設計どおりに動作することを確認した。今年度は、クラスターが形成されにくいHe中に5%に希釈されたOCS分子を試料とし、背圧10気圧、静電場4.4kV/cm、レーザー光のピーク強度4.1x10^<12>W/cm^2の条件で、原理実証実験で得られたよりも高い配向度を実現することに成功した。
(2)分子内量子過程のフィードバック型最適制御技術の高度化と非断熱分子配列への適用
2次元イオン画像をフィードバック用の信号として用いる技術を開発し、非断熱領域の分子配列の最適制御に適用した。N_2分子を試料とし、ポンプ光のエネルギーが一定の条件でhalf revival付近の配列度を最大化するようにフィードバックをかけた。その結果、最適パルスとして単一の超短パルスが得られるときと、強度のほぼ等しいダブルパルス(個々のピーク強度は単一パルスの半分以下)が得られるときがあることが分かった。ダブルパルスの効果について時間依存Schrodinger方程式を数値積分して調べたところ、half revival付近よりもむしろポンプ光入射直後(量子力学的にfull revivalと同等)の配列度の増大に有効であることを示唆する結果が得られた。このため、干渉計を組んで発生させたダブルパルスの時間間隔を変化させて配列度を調べたところ、特定の時間間隔で配列度が極大値を取ることが分かった。この結果は、数値計算の結果と定性的に一致するものであった。
