| Research Abstract |
Based on the results of "Fundamental Studies for the Improvement of History Textbooks between Japan and Korea"(grant-in-aid for scientific research (A)(2), term of project : 1999-2001, project number : 11694003), we are aiming to compile common teaching materials of history education in high school between Japan and Korea. In this project, investigators majoring in historical science or history education and history teachers of both countries are collaborating, mainly Tokyo Gakugei University (History Education Study Group) and Seoul City University (History Textbook Study Group). By uniting these investigators' viewpoints with teachers', our studies become very practical and concrete. As a production of our studies, a following book was issued in Japan.

For discussing necessary history recognition from the viewpoint of history education, we held ‘Japan-Korea History Textbook Symposium' twice per year, Seoul(2002.8), Fukuoka(2003.1), Seoul(2003.8), Tokyo (2004.1), Seoul(2004.8) and Tokyo(2005.1). And, to increase utility of high school students, we continued to shape up history recognition, select and simplify our drafts by crosschecking. Now, based on the final agreement, we are adjusting ‘technical terms' for publishing in Japan and Korea.
