Research Abstract

This project is research on implementation process of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIAct) in the U.K. which enacted on 30 Nov. 2000 and brought fully in force on 1 Jan.2005.
The research was performed mainly by analyzing various documents and information on the internet which have a relevance to implementation of the FOIAct, for example, annual reports of government department responsible for implementation of the Act (the Lord Chancellor's Department and the Department for Constitutional affairs), the minutes of meetings of the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Group on implementation of the Freedom of Information, publications and press releases on the H.P. of Campaign for Freedom of Information and so on.
As results of the research, an outline of the implementation process of FOIAct which is composed of three sections((1) government departments and groups responsible for implementation, (2) the plan and schedule of implementation, (3) the details of implementation process) is explained and some characteristics of the inplementation process are pointed out.
