Research Abstract |
There are three papers produced in relation to this project. The first paper, "Organizational commitment and performance in Japanese information technology firms" investigates the relationship among IT use, organizational commitment, and organizational performance. The findings from this research provided some background for the third paper. The second paper,"National Culture and Organizational Behavior of Malaysian and Japanese Firms" examines the cultural and organizational characteristics of Malaysian and Japanese organizations. Findings from this paper were incorporated in the third paper. Finally, the third paper "Managerial work roles, influence tactics, and commitment-a study on organizations in Western Japan" uses the Kipnis et al. framework to probe the influence tactics of Japanese firms. The findings showed that Japanese firms tend to use tactics specific to their social and cultural contexts.
