Research Abstract |
Blood was collected from patients undergoing liver transplantation surgery at multiple time points and platelet aggregation was analyzed with WBA analyzer (SSR Engineering Co. ltd. Japan). Platelet was stimulated by various concentrations of adenosine-diphosphate, collagen or STA_2, an analog of thromboxane A2. Blood was collected before surgery, right before hepatectomy, during liverless period and after re-perfusion. Platelet aggregation before surgery was the reference value. Platelet aggregation was reduced during surgery in many patients but significant change at a specified period was not observed as patient group at least analyzed with WBA analyzer. This fact does not mean that surgery did not affect platelets at all. It is possible that more sensitive analyzer could detect changes of platelet aggregation. Moreover in fundamental study, we observed significant sensitivity differences between channels of the WBA analyzer, possibly by mechanical problem. Now we are doing efforts to version it up with SSR Engineering Co. ltd. Anesthetics also could affect platelet aggregation during surgery. So the effects of anesthetics on platelet aggregation were determined. These studies reveled that ketamine suppressed platelet aggregation and there are three categories of barbiturates; suppressing, enhancing groups and non -affecting group. When discussing platelet aggregation during surgery, we have to mention anesthetics used at concerned periods.
