Research Abstract |
Although the environmental contaminant 2,3,7,8-tetrachlordibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), via its interaction with the Ah receptor is an extremely potent carcinogen and immunosuppressive agent in experimental animal, its possible actions on neutrophil function have not been determined. In addition to their importance against infectious microorganisms, neutrophils have been implicated in antitumor resistance. The present study examined the effects of in vitro exposure to TCDD on human neutrophils. TCDD upregulate the expression of adhesion molecule on neutrophils dose dependent manner.
