| Research Abstract |
Depauperation of children's play and play environment is progressing by shortage of free and safe play space brought by urbanization, a play group's reduction brought by advance of decrease in the birthrate, and the change of family and children's life style, etc. The guardian and local people who had a sense of crisis in such a situation after the 70s have built the adventure playground in which a play leader is present. In recent years, the number has exceeded 150 places.
The purpose of this study on adventure playground is to clarify how it is used, how it is evaluated, and what kind of problem they have, and to examine a formation matter of adventure playground.
The details of surveillance study are divided roughly into two.
The first is the investigation of actual situation in permanent adventure ground "Tenpaku Play Park" (in Nagoya city) where full-time play leaders observe the places. I clarified the situation of the activity that children and play leaders created attractive play places, and evaluation of user in detail.
The second investigation is a questionnaire for the adventure playground governing body of whole country. I clarified the contents of activity, the subject of activity, etc. by the reply obtained from 90 bodies.
Through these researches, the following elements were found as a formation matter of a adventure playground: needs of children and guardians for adventure playground, place characteristic (the geographical convenience / neighboring environment, a natural element, many institutions), play leader, administration (activity fund, operator, understanding of neighborhood), administration support.
