Research Abstract

ランダムウォークやブラウン運動は理論物理/化学の領域で高分子の数学模型として用いられることがある。特に多数の高分子が相互作用によって引き付けあう様子、或は溶媒中の不純物が高分子の形状に与える影響は興味深い。不思議なことにこうした現象は統計物理の他の問題(濡れ転移、結晶の成長、浸透理論での最速通過、...)と類似していて、背後には共通の数学的構造が潜んでいると期待される。筆者達の目標はこうした数学的構造をランダムウォークやブラウン運動に基づいた模型を用いて描き出すことである。この分野で筆者達が得た主な成果は以下の通りである。
●互いの間に吸着力が働く複数のランダムウォーク(friendly walkers)についての局在/非局在相転移[2,3].吸着力の強さをパラメーター\betaで表したとき、ある臨界値\beta_cの前後でランダムウォーク達の長時間挙動に質的な差が生じること。\beta<\beta_c$ではあたかも吸着力が働いていないかのように自由に行動するが\beta>\beta_c$では互いに遠ざかることなく固まって行動する。
●溶媒中の不純物が高分子の形状に与える影響をランダムウォーク[1]、ブラウン運動の模型を使って解析。不純物が強い場合、その影響がランダムウォークや、ブラウン運動の通常とは異なる特異な長時間挙動として現われることを示す。
