Research Abstract

前年に引き続き、AGNの硬X線光度関数の宇宙論的進化の研究を進めた。光度関数をより広い赤方偏移・光度範囲かつより高い統計精度で制限するため、「あすか」、HEAO1、チャンドラディープサーベイ北に加え、チャンドラディープサーベイ南で得られたより深い検出感度を達成したサンプルを用い、過去最大の硬X線選択サンプルを構築した。このサンプルに対し、観測バイアスを考慮した解析をシステマティックに行なった結果、低い光度のAGN数がピークとなる赤方偏移が、より光度の高いAGNのそれに比べて低いという、「AGN進化のダウンサイジング」をより明確に示すことに成功した。同時にz>3において、高光度AGNの空間数密度が減少している証拠を掴むことができた。この解析結果は、2004年7月に開かれた国際会議(COSPAR)において発表した。さらにHEAO-1衛星によって得られた近傍AGNの完全サンプルに対し、「あすか」およびXMM-Newton衛星を用いて追求観測した結果をまとめ、近傍宇宙のAGN光度関数と吸収量の分布を確立した。その結果、高光度になるほど吸収されたAGNの割合が減少する傾向を確認することができた。また、「あすか」によって得られた硬X線サンプルの近赤外領域でカラーの性質をまとめ、高光度AGNにおいてダスト-ガス比が異常に小さくなっている兆候を得ることができた。これらと並行して「すばる」-XMMディープサーベイ計画に参加し、最新情報に基づいてX線カタログを改定し、X線源の空間相関の解析を行なった。
