10Gpaを超える精水圧発生装置の開発と新しい圧力誘起量子相転移の探索

Research Abstract

本年度の研究は以下のようにまとめられる。
1)超硬合金を用いた圧力発生領域の拡大:精水圧領域で到達圧力の最大値を、Ni-Cr-Mo-Co合金(MP35N)を使って3.5Gpaへ上げることに成功し、2K,3.5Gpa,11Tの低温、高圧、強磁場中における電気伝導、熱膨張、交流帯磁率測定が恒常的にできるようになった。
2)対向アンビルを用いた精水圧発生領域の拡大:一般的なピストンシリンダー方式では精水圧発生可能圧力が低いため、対向ナンビルでガスケットを押しつぶすブリッジマン方式を採用して精水圧下での電気抵抗測定に取り組んでいる。この方式でより高い圧力を発生させるには、硬い金属ガスケットを効率良く押しつぶすことと、圧力もれを極力押さえることが必要である。我々はガスケットとしてSUS304合金を用い、加圧によってガスケットが横に広がるのを防ぐため、HRC硬度が50程度の硬いリングにガスケットをはめ込んだ。ガスケットには放電加工機にて溝を彫り、そこにCu線をはわせることによって電極を外に取り出した。電極とアンビルとの絶縁はアルミナ粉末によっておこなった。これにより室温でFeの電気抵抗測定をおこない、8ton程度の低い荷重にてε-γ転移(13GPa)の観測に成功した。現在所有する低温高圧発生装置は15ton程度まで発生可能であるため、低温で20Gpa以上の精水圧発生は充分可能であると考えられる。
3)圧力誘起量子相転移の探索:Ce-Ni-Ge化合物の物質探索をおこない、CeNiGe_2単結晶の育成に成功した。また反強磁性転移をCe化合物の物質探索をおこない、Neel点の圧力効果の観測と反強磁性が消失する圧力近傍における量子相転移の探索をおこなった。特にCeAl_2において、3Gpa付近での電気伝導に非フェルミ液体的な振る舞いを見い出した。
