Research Abstract

[60]フラーレンの南北両極に10個の有機基を導入する化学修飾を行い,赤道(ベルト)部分に40π電子系の環状共役系([10]シクロフェナセン)をもつ十重付加型[60]フラーレン誘導体を合成した.これら環状共役系の構造をX線結晶構造解析により決定し,結合交替を調べた,得られた構造をもとに理論計算を行い,環状共役系の芳香族性などの性質を明らかにした.酸化反応に対する安定性を検討し,環状共役系が安定な分子であることを証明した.このことは,理論計算の結果と一致する.電気化学的測定により,環状共役系部分に2電子導入できることを明らかにした.また,環状共役系が黄色の蛍光を発することを示した.
合成した十重付加型[60]フラーレン誘導体を配位子として用いて,ロジウム・パラジウムなどの遷移金属錯体を合成した.得られた金属錯体のX線構造解析を行い,環状共役系部分のより精度の高いデータを得ることに成功した.また,遷移金属原子がベルト部位の環状共役系に及ぼす電子的な影響(蛍光の消光など)を明らかにした.
また,環状40π電子系が最短ナノチューブであることに着目して研究をさらに展開した.量子化学計算の手法を用いて,カーボンナノチューブの構造・芳香族性(NICS値)・HOMO-LUMO Gapがチューブの長さに依存して3回周期で変化することを明らかにした.このことは,カーボンナノチューブの化学反応に対する反応性が,チューブの長さに依存して3回周期で変化することを示している.
