Outline of Annual Research Achievements

近年、自らを燃焼させエネルギーを産生する役割をする「褐色脂肪組織」の存在が注目されている。一方、筋由来の新規生理活性物質「イリシン（Irisin）」は、運動によって活性化され、白色脂肪組織の褐色化（Browning）を促進させることにより、肥満の予防および改善が寄与できると期待されている。
しかしながら、血中イリシン濃度の増加や活性化に最も有効な運動様式、頻度および強度については不明である。本研究は、成人肥満者を対象に筋由来の新規生理活性化物質「イリシン」の分泌に最も効果的な運動の詳細（様式、頻度、強度）を明らかにすることを目的とした。
主に介入研究を中心に、運動様式（有酸素性運動とレジスタンス運動）、運動頻度（一過性運動と習慣的運動）、運動強度（中強度運動と高強度運動）の違いが血中イリシン分泌に及ぼす影響を検討した。60名の肥満男性を対象にした12週間の介入研究は全て終了しており、その結果を取りまとめて学会発表および研究論文として準備している。
これまでの先行研究では、運動の有効性が期待されつつも、運動の詳細については明確に示されなかった。イリシンの活性化に最も効果的な運動の詳細を明らかにすることで、肥満問題の新たな解決につながる基礎的データになると考えうる。
