Outline of Annual Research Achievements

・全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバのフォトニックバンドギャップの特性を光カー効果により制御して,全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバの透過特性を変化させ,光変調への応用を検討した.光カー効果は非線形光学効果の一種で媒質の屈折率が光強度に依存して変化する現象である.その応答時間は最短10 fs程であり, 超高速動作が期待できる.スタック&ドロー法を用いて全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバを作製した.高屈折率材料,コア材料およびクラッド材料にはそれぞれ, TeO2-Li2O-WO3-MoO3-Nb2O5(TLWMN), TeO2-ZnO-Na2O-La2O3(TZNL), TeO2-ZnO-Li2O-K2O-Al2O3-P2O5(TZLKAP)のガラスを用いた.上記のテルライトガラスを用いて全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバの作製に成功し,光カー効果によって全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバの透過特性を変化させる事で, 最大20 dBの強度変調を実現できる可能性を初めて明らかにし,制御光による光強度変調ができることを実証した.
・ステップインデックス型光ファイバによるSC光発生を検証するため,As2Se3ガラスをコア,AsSe2ガラスをクラッドとしたステップインデックス型光ファイバによるSC光の発生を検討した.コア径が15μmのとき波長分散値は5μm以上の波長域で10ps/km/nm以下となり,低い値となる.パルス幅は200 fs,パルスの繰り返し周波数は1 kHzのパルス光を入射してSC光の発生を検証した.励起波長を9.8μmとしたとき,2から15.1μmに亘るSC光の発生を確認することができた.15μmを超える波長域にまでSC光を拡大させることに初めて成功した.
