Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Menendez博士は主に3つのテーマについて研究を行った。1番目のものは、ダブルベータ崩壊の核行列要素に関するものである。来日前に幾つかの原子核のダブルベータ崩壊の核行列要素について、主に殻模型に基づいた研究を行っていた。外国人特別研究員着任後には、東京グループの活動に参加し、カルシウム48の大規模殻模型計算による研究のメンバーとして参加し、Physical review Letters 誌に出版された論文の共著者にもなった。平成28年度には、その研究の流れに沿って、さらに重い原子核からのダブルベータ崩壊の研究に参加している。それらの原子核にはゲルマニウム76、セレン82やジルコニウム96が含まれる。東京グループが得意とする重い核の大規模殻模型計算とうまくかみ合った共同研究になっている。Menendez博士は特にペアリング相関の効果を抽出して見る理論的方法を以前から考案して実行しており、その観点からのユニークな寄与もある。
他には、ダークマター検出のための原子核反応の研究を進めており、世界的にもユニークな研究として注目を集めている。
本質的には弾性散乱を用いるものであるが、どのような設定で検出が可能になるか、などを調べている。
他には、カイラル摂動論から得られる有効核子ー核子相互作用を導出する試みを主にはダルムシュタット工科大学のグループの関連研究者と共同研究を行っている。それによるsd殻原子核の基底状態や低い励起状態の量子多体構造の研究を行った。
