Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、反ニュートリノビームデータ合計7.5E20陽子分とニュートリノビームデータ合計7.5E20陽子分を使って、ニュートリノ振動におけるCPの破れのパラメータδCPを世界最高精度で測定した。その結果は、90%の信頼度で-3.13<δCP (ラジアン)<-0.39 [ニュートリノ質量が順階層の場合]、-2.09<δCP (ラジアン)<-0.74 [逆階層の場合]で、CP対称性が破れている(δCP≠0)ことを示唆していた。この結果は、英国ロンドンで開催されたニュートリノ国際会議NEUTRINO2016やシカゴで開催された高エネルギー物理学の国際会議ICHEP2016で発表し、素粒子物理学分野の2016年のハイライトとして大きく取り上げられた。結果は論文にまとめてPhysical Review Letters誌に投稿し受理された。
また、ニュートリノ振動の精密測定のために、ニュートリノ・原子核の反応の研究を進めた。具体的には、荷電カレントコヒーレントπ生成反応の測定に成功し、こちらもPhysical Review Letters誌に掲載された。
以上の結果を出すに当たり、外国人特別研究員のSon CAO氏はニュートリノビームモニターINGRIDグループのリーダとして長期間J-PARCに滞在し、実験を主導し、データ収集において重要な役割を担った。また、物理解析においても、系統誤差を正確に評価しCP対称性の破れの研究を進め、目覚ましい活躍をした。
