Research Abstract

縦型過渡励起軟X線レーザー生成のための固体ターゲットからの高密度レーザープラズマを非線形媒質に用いる制御高次高調波軟X線レーザーを初めて提案、実証した。イオン化エネルギーの高いマンガンを用いて7.9nm(101次)の制御高調波軟X線を得たが、レーザープラズマからのイオンを用いた高次高調波では世界最高次の最短波長である。レーザー誘起共鳴増幅による特定次数のコヒーレント単一制御高調波軟X線が得られることを世界に先駆けて実証し高出力・高効率化を達成し、その機構を解明した。Inを初め、次々と異常強力単一周波数共鳴増幅を観測した。変換効率は〜10^<-4>と桁違いの大きさであり、1パルス当たり1μJ以上という高エネルギーを得た。全く新しい新スキーム光源であり、励起レーザー波長やチャープ量、強度を精密にコントロールすることによって波長制御や変換効率をさらに上げられることがわかり今後の大きな期待が持てる。金属ナノ粒子クラスターを固体ターゲットに用いると高次での高調波強度がバルクターゲットに較べて6倍もの増強になることも確認した。ダブルターゲット方式による2波長高次高調波同時発生のスキームも確立し、2つのターゲットを並べてプリアイオナイズしておきメインレーザーを打ち込むとそれぞれのターゲットに特性的なスペクトルが加算され特性的な2波長で同時に高調波の発生が実証され分光用光源として大いに期待が高まった。
さらに半導体を含む種々の試料上に生成されるナノ構造が波長の数分の一以下になりうることや励起波長によってもナノ構造が劇的に変わることを発見するなど軟X線の応用の知見を得た。医学グループと連携してシグナル伝達の極微量計測システムにより蛍光共鳴エネルギー転移現象によるタンパク間のリガンド活性による構造変化をピコ秒スケールで時間発展観測をおこなった。
このようにコヒーレント軟X線光源を有効利用・測定する手法等を開発し新展開を目指し水の窓領域への挑戦を続けている。
