Outline of Annual Research Achievements

コウモリは超音波を放射し、そのエコー（反響音）にもとづいて獲物や障害物を感知する。例えば、日本国内に多く生息するアブラコウモリは、一晩に数百匹もの昆虫を捕食することが知られている。このように大量の餌を効率よく捕食するには、短時間でいかにロスなく接近し捕食していくかが重要と考えられる。本課題では、コウモリの飛行経路選択に関わる非線形ダイナミクスの研究を行う。
今年度は、これまでに考案した２次元飛行モデルを３次元空間に拡張し、１匹のコウモリが２匹の餌を追いかける状況を数値シミュレーションにより調べた。その結果、近接個体に加えて遠方の個体の空間情報を使ったほうが、両者の捕食確率が高くなることがわかった。また、野外での計測データから数理モデルの未知パラメータを推定し、実際のコウモリが捕食確率を高める行動をとっていることを示した。上記の研究成果は、査読付き学術論文として投稿しアクセプトされた
次に、コウモリの超音波放射に注目した研究を行った。具体的には、コウモリが自身の飛行方向に加えて、超音波の放射方向も動的に制御すると仮定し、両者のダイナミクスを記述する数理モデルを提案した。この数理モデルを用いた数値シミュレーションにより、餌を見失わずに捕食していく条件を調べた。さらに、野外での計測データから数理モデルの未知パラメータを推定し、数値シミュレーションの結果と比較した。上記の研究成果は、査読付きの国際会議論文として公開した。
