Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成28年度は、高強度・超短パルス光と物質の相互作用によっておこる極限的な非線形現象を微視的に理解するための理論的解析を行い、特に次の研究で成果があった。
(i)高強度フェムト秒レーザーが誘電体に誘起する超高速光学特性変化の第一原理計算
この研究では、国外の実験グループとの共同研究により、高強度なフェムト秒パルスレーザーが引き起こす誘電体の超高速な光学特性の変化を調べた。
特に、ダイアモンド薄膜に対する実験結果の理論解析においては、第一原理計算によって実験で観測される超高速光学特性変化を定量的によく再現することに成功した。さらに、ダイアモンドにおける超高速光学特性変化の微視的起源を明らかにするため、理論計により得られた情報をの詳細な解析を進めた。その結果、実験で観測された超高速な光学特性の変化は、高強度フェムト秒レーザーがダイアモンドの特定のバンド構造に引き起こすバンド内遷移(intra-band transition)に起因する動的Franz-Keldysh効果であることを明らかとなった。
この成果は、論文"Attosecond dynamical Franz-Keldysh effect in polycrystalline diamond", Science 353, 916 (2016) としてScience誌から発表されている。
また、さらにこの共同研究を発展させ、異なる物質・条件の下での超高速光学特性変化を実験と理論の両面から調べることにより、高強度超短パルスが引き起こすバンド内遷移、及びバンド間遷移(inter-band transition)からの異なる寄与の両方が超高速光学特性変化に対して重要な役割を果たすことが明らかとなってきた。
