Outline of Annual Research Achievements

酸化還元特性を示すエンジアミド配位子を有するニオブ錯体 1 の合成と種々のアルケンに対する四塩化炭素のラジカル付加反応に関して、ニオブ錯体の触媒特性、ならびに反応機構の詳細を含めて記載した。本研究成果は、安定な高酸化数状態にある前周期遷移金属錯体がラジカル付加反応の触媒となることを示した最初の報告例である。α-ジイミン配位子存在下で有機ケイ素還元剤を五塩化ニオブに作用させることで、配位子が2電子還元されてエンジアミド型へと変化したニオブ錯体 1 を合成した。続いて、錯体 1 をラジカル付加反応の触媒として用いたところ、アルケンに対する四塩化炭素のラジカル付加反応に高活性を示すことを見出した。反応機構検討として、速度論解析を行ったところ、スチレン及び四塩化炭素の初期濃度が低い時には速度式は 1a、スチレン、四塩化炭素の濃度に依存することが明らかとなった。また、スチレンが過剰に存在する場合では、スチレンと1aの相互作用により化学種Aが生成し速度が低下することが観測できた。アイリングプロットより本反応の負の活性化エントロピーが得られたことより、律速段階では化学種Cのような会合状態で反応が進行していることが示唆された。また、炭素―塩素結合活性化の過程をUV-vis測定により追跡したところ、酸化還元活性なエンジアミド配位子が1電子酸化されることで錯体 1 が還元的に四塩化炭素の炭素―塩素結合を切断し、中間体として錯体Bが生成していることを明らかにした。
