Outline of Annual Research Achievements

熱活性化型遅延蛍光(TADF)は三重項状態を最低励起一重項状態に高効率で変換できる。TADF材料は従来の蛍光やりん光材料にかわる次世代発光材料として注目されており、現在、盛んに研究が行われている。有機ELの実用化に向けた課題の一つである発光量子効率の向上には、固体状態において発光分子の濃度消光を抑制することが重要である。本研究では、TADF過程を利用した高効率有機ELデバイスの開発を目的として、励起エネルギー準位を制御した新規TADF発光材料の分子設計、精密合成、および光物理特性評価を行うとともに、デバイス中における濃度消光に関する詳細な解析を行った。濃度消光の抑制を指向し、ドナー・アクセプター構造を有するTADF分子骨格へ立体的に嵩高い置換基を導入することを提案した。アクセプター部位としてキサントンを有し、種々のドナー部位が結合した新規TADF材料群を開発した。ドナー部位にsp3炭素を介して立体的に嵩高い置換基を導入した材料が単膜状態においても高い発光量子収率を示した。これらの発光材料を用いたドープ濃度75%の有機EL素子の最大外部量子効率は16%を超え、濃度消光を効果的に抑制することに成功した。さらに、消光速度定数の分子間距離依存性からTADF分子の濃度消光が電子交換に基づくデクスター型エネルギー移動機構により起こることを明らかにした。
