Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度の研究目標である,液滴の滑りにおける液滴表面の振動計測を行った.具体的には,昨年度に設計・製作したMEMS力センサを用いて,5~20μlの液滴がセンサ上を滑る際の振動を計測した.また,液滴の大きさや滑り速度,表面粗さを変化させたときに,振動の周波数がどのように変化するかを明らかにした.
実験に使用したセンサは,0.3μmの薄いシリコン構造を土台として,その上に高さ30μmのマイクロピラーが多数形成されている.マイクロピラーアレイの上面は超撥水性となっているので,その上に乗せた液滴は球形に近い形を保ち,アレイを傾けると自重によって滑り落ちる. 実験ではセンサ上に液滴を滑らせたときの振動を計測した.力の正負としては,液滴がマイクロピラーを押すときを正,液滴がマイクロピラーを引っ張るときを負と定義した.計測の結果から,接触面の中央付近では液滴がマイクロピラーを押すことがわかった.また,得られた力の大きさには小刻みな変化 が含まれ,このことから液滴表面に微小な振動が発生していることが確認された.
この力の変化をフーリエ変換して周波数領域で解析したところ,約3kHzにピークをもつ振動が認められた.このピーク周波数は(予想に反して) 液滴の大きさにも滑り速度にも依存せず,マイクロピラーアレイの密度に反比例することがわかった.マイクロマシン分野では最大級の国際学会である MEMS2016に参加し,これらの研究成果を発表した.
また,センサ上に液滴を滴下させたときのインパクトを圧力分布として計測することもできた.この結果は国際会議MEMS2016にて口頭発表を 行い,各国から参加した研究者の方々に大変興味をもっていただいた.
