Outline of Annual Research Achievements

現在までに行われた様々な宇宙観測の結果から,暗黒物質が存在することは立証されている。しかしながら,素粒子標準模型の枠内では暗黒物質を説明することはできない。このことは,標準模型を超える新物理が存在することを強く示唆しており,暗黒物質の正体を明らかにすることは新物理の全貌を知る上で極めて重要となる。そこで私は,種々の有望な暗黒物質模型において暗黒物質の探索可能性を研究することにした。特に,高い超対称スケールを持つ超対称標準模型において可能な暗黒物質の候補を洗い出し,それぞれの候補についてどのような実験で探索するのが有望かを議論した。このような模型に着目した理由としては,近年のLHC実験における超対称性粒子の直接探索の結果,およびヒッグス粒子質量の測定結果のいずれもが,超対称性のスケールが電弱スケールと比較して大分高いことを示唆しているためである。このような場合,電弱スケールが何故数百GeV程度であるかを自然に説明することが困難になる。そこで,超対称標準模型における『自然性』の問題についても議論した。

超対称標準模型の持つ多くの利点は,超対称性を持たないSO(10)大統一理論にも内包されていることが知られている。特に,これらの理論において,暗黒物質候補が自然に得られるのは非常に興味深い点である。そこで,このような暗黒物質の候補についても一般的に議論した。

これらに加えて,近年のLHC実験において報告された新物理の兆候と考えられる事象のいくつかに着目し,それらの解釈可能性を研究した。これらの研究で与えられた予言は,数年以内にLHC実験において検証することが可能である。
