Research Abstract

本領域では、サブミリ波帯からテラヘルツ帯という新しい観測波長帯における観測装置の開発と、それによる銀河系、局所銀河群、そして近傍銀河の観測から、銀河の構成要素である星および星間物質の性質や進化過程についてさまざまな新しい知見を得、本プロジェクトが国内外の同分野で中核となり、アタカマ大型ミリ波干渉計プロジェクトのような国際将来計画の基礎を組み立ててきた。
今年度は、本領域のまとめとして、成果報告のための公開講演会を実施し、成果の発信につとめた。
1) 12月23日に、東京(昭和女子大)においてクリスマスレクチャーズを開催し、水野範和准教授(国立天文台ALMA推進室)と福井康雄(名古屋大学)が講師をつとめ、本特定領域によって得られたサブミリ波観測の成果を紹介し、観測装置の開発の現状を報告した。100名近い出席者を得て、盛況のうちに終了した。
2) 2月11日名古屋(名古屋大学)と3月14日金沢(三谷産業株式会社)の両日、サブミリ波天文学の研究成果を報告する公開講演会を開催し、福井康雄(名古屋大学)と大西利和(同)の2名が講師をつとめ、宇宙研究の現状を紹介しつつ、日本のサブミリ波観測の現状と展望を紹介した。計150名余の参加を得て、ともに盛況のうちに終了した。
3) 12月、1月、3月にプレスリリースを行い、星団形成機構の解明、銀河系中心部の磁気浮上ループの発見、分子雲ジェットの発見についてそれぞれ発表した。中日新聞、読売新聞の他、共同通信、時事通信の配信によって全国の多数地方紙に報道された。
