Research Abstract

本研究では、電子間の強いクーロン相互作用によって電荷ギャップが形成された有機モット絶縁体などの有機半導体を対象として、これをチャネルとする電界効果型トランジスタ(FET)を構築し、有機半導体界面への電界効果ドーピングにもとづく有機強相関電子系の新しいデバイス物理を開拓することを目的とした。ここでは、一次元有機モット絶縁体単結晶を用いて電界効果型素子構造を構築し、その特性が両極性の電界効果素子動作を見出すとともに、低温での挙動からモット絶縁体FETの両極性動作が、モット絶縁体/金属間界面における特異なキャリヤ注入機構に由来することを明らかにした。また以上に関連し、異種分子間に生じる分子間電荷移動などにより有機半導体界面を高機能化する要素技術の開発に取り組んだ。さらにこれらを、折り曲げ可能な電子装置の実現に向けその実用化が強く期待されている有機トランジスタの高度化のために活用する研究へと展開した。特定領域研究の全期間にわたって得られた研究成果のトピックスは、(1)有機モット絶縁体における両極性キャリヤ注入、(2)有機半導体薄膜の界面エンジニアリングとドーピング制御、(3)分子性導体を用いた機能性電極技術の原理実証、(4)分子性導体薄膜のインクジェット印刷、(5)テトラチアフルバレン系高移動度チャネル材料の開発、(6)電子スピン共鳴法による有機半導体界面のキャリヤ輸送観測、(7)分子性単結晶の圧力下単結晶フル構造解析である。
