Research Abstract

この研究の目的は, 有機導体を一軸性圧縮と静水圧によって高度に圧縮し, 常圧とはまったく違う新構造と電子状態を実現してそこに現れる新規電子状態を探索するとともに, 有機導体の超伝導などの電子状態の制御と設計を試みることである。バンドが1/4だけ詰まり電荷秩序の自由度を持つ2次元性の物質について, 金属性, 超伝導, 電荷秩序の相互関係を系統的に調べた。
θ-(BEDT-TTF)_2CsZn(SCN)_4, β"-(DODHT)_2PF_6, およびβ"-(BEDT-TTF)_2CsCd(SCN)_4が共通の性質を持つことを明らかにし, 電荷秩序相と金属・超伝導相の安定領域を解明するとともに, それらの中間に, 電荷揺らぎ相とでも呼ぶべき中間状態があることを発見した。中間相において非線形電気伝導を詳しく調べ, 非線形伝導にともなってメモリ効果があること, および, メモリ効果は電荷秩序と関係して結晶構造のわずかな歪を伴うというモデルを提唱した。今後に残された課題は, 中間相の電子状態の本質を解明することである。α-(BEDT-TTF)_2I_3においては, 伝導面内でひとつの方向に一軸性圧縮を加えると2次元電子ポケットのサイズが極めて小さくなることを発見し, その状態での結晶構造を明らかにした。A5班の鈴村らの理論研究により, この状態は質量のない2次元ディラック電子状態であることが発見された。これは電子物性研究における大きな発見であり, 1軸性圧縮によって初めて可能になったものである。
このほか一軸性延伸技法を開発し, また, ロシアのグループとの共同によって4種類の有機導体を20GPaの超高圧まで圧縮し, 常温で2端子電気抵抗, 熱電能および圧縮率の測定に成功した。
