Research Abstract

統計力学的手法を用いた解析として、まず液相中の短範囲規則度を考慮できる会合溶体モデルを用い、ガラス形成能の高い合金系であるZr基合金に関し、Thermo-Calcデータベースを援用して液相のCLAPHAD法による自由エネルギー関数の熱力学評価を行った。得られた自由エネルギー関数を用いて臨界冷却速度を求めた結果、短範囲規則度の効果を取り入れることで、過冷却液相が安定化し、結晶化の駆動力・臨界冷却速度共に大きく低下することが判った。特にAI-Ni-Zr三元系およびCu-Ni-Zr三元系についてガラス形成能を評価し、実験と整合的な結果を得た。また液相からの冷却時の結晶化に関するTTT-曲線のノーズ位置に与える熱力学パラメーターの影響を定量的に評価し、融点が同じであれば融解のエンタルピーおよびガラス転移温度が高いほどガラス形成能が高くなることを示し、新規金属ガラスの探索や組成最適化のための指針を得た。
MD法を用いた解析としては、Al-Cu-Zr系を模した三元モデル合金系につき液相冷却シミュレーションおよび生成したガラス相を等温保持するシミュレーションを行ない、ガラス相中の短範囲・中範囲構造の起源とそれらが構造緩和でどう変化するかを調べた。ガラス相中の基本構造は正20面体型クラスターが連結したネットワークであること、構造緩和に伴いそのネットワークが成長しガラス相の全域を覆うこと、またその正20面体ネットワーク構造とネットワーク外部に相補的に存在する結晶的配位を持つ原子群とが絡み合ってガラス相特有の中範囲秩序を形成していることが判った。また構造緩和に伴ってガラス相中の自由体積は減少すること、そしてその過程ではひも状の原子の集団運動が観測されることを明らかにした。
