Research Abstract

金属ガラスには転位がないために元来塑性変形しないと考えられてきたが、近年圧縮試験により大きな塑性変形する金属ガラスが多く見いだされて注目されている。金属ガラスの変型は剪断帯での滑り変型により起こり、剪断帯が多数導入される場合に高い塑性歪みが観察される。ところがどのような場合に大きな塑性歪みが発現するのかが明らかでない。そこで平成20年度は様々なバルク金属ガラスを異なるプロセス条件で製造し、圧縮試験により応力歪み曲線を測定し、同時に試料の微細構造を電子顕微鏡・3次元アトムプローブにより解析し、塑性歪みとガラスのナノ構造との因果関係を調査、さらにポアッソン比などの物性も同時に測定し、上記の情報を総合して金属ガラスが塑性変形する条件を解明した。具体的には一連の組成の(Cu,Zr)1-xAlx金属ガラスの剪断帯の解析、Pd-Ni-P,Zr-Cu-Ni-Al金属ガラスの剪断帯の世界で初めての直接構造解析、Zr基金属ガラスの塑性変形のプロセス依存性を調査し、塑性変形にはナノ結晶の存在あるいは剪断帯でのナノ結晶化などの要因も影響するものの、自由体積がもっとも重要であることを見いだした。
